Emler Swim School Taking Shape

Posted by & filed under News, Commercial.

Construction is underway on the new Emler Swim School at the Shoppes at the Corridor in Brookfield. Its first Wisconsin location, the new facility will support Emler’s model of structured swim instruction which uses progressive levels, low student ratios, and milestone tracking to teach youth water safety and swimming skills.

Greenfire is managing the tenant build-out after previously constructing the core and shell building for Irgens. Knowledge of the existing structure, utilities, and base-building systems provides a direct benefit to the current work, allowing the team to coordinate efficiently with design partners and subcontractors. Understanding how the original infrastructure was assembled supports decisions related to slab conditions, mechanical pathways, and life-safety connections, which helps maintain continuity from the base building into the interior improvements.

The project scope includes the full pool installation, under-slab and overhead MEPFP systems, interior framing, drywall, ceilings, flooring, finishes, and specialty components required for an indoor swim school. Early activities included under-slab plumbing and electrical work, rough-ins, and concrete placement in both wet and dry areas. Pool construction has progressed through excavation, plumbing, rebar installation, gunite placement, backfilling, and deck drainage work before moving into tile and coping.

Interior construction has advanced with framing, drywall, in-wall MEP rough-ins, inspections, paint, ACT installation, tile, epoxy flooring, casework, glazing, and finish work. The pool equipment room and its mechanical connections are completed in sequence with life-safety inspections and final building systems coordination.

As the build moves toward equipment installation, inspections, and turnover, Greenfire continues to manage scheduling, subcontractor oversight, and quality control to maintain alignment with project requirements.

Once completed, this newest location for Emler Swim School will bring its leading swim instruction model to Southeast Wisconsin.

Project Spotlight: Prairie’s Edge Commercial B

Posted by & filed under News, Commercial.

Greenfire is managing construction of Commercial Building B at Prairie’s Edge in Port Washington, Wisconsin. Developed by Black Cap Halcyon, this new two-tenant commercial structure totals approximately 7,500 SF and adds more amenities to the growing mixed-use community along the Lake Michigan shoreline.

The building includes a 5,700 SF space leased for a future fitness center and an 1,800 SF space planned for a future physical therapy space. Located at the corner of Wisconsin Street and Prairie’s Edge Way, the building will serve both residents of Prairie’s Edge and the surrounding community.

Greenfire previously managed the core and shell construction of the adjacent Commercial Building C, as well as the tenant buildouts for Lakeside Alliance Church and Portside Investment Advisors within Building C. Following Building C’s design cues, Building B will feature steel framing and high-performance materials to stand up to the breezy shoreside conditions of the site. Greenfire is overseeing site preparation, concrete foundations, framing, and building enclosure while coordinating closely with The Kubala Washatko Architects and Pierce Engineers to finish out the tenant spaces as well.

The new commercial building’s main feature will be a large open-concept gym floor, with ample natural light from large window bays and a nearly 40’ open ceiling pitch. The building will have an entry vestibule, entry lobby, lounge, two physical therapy rooms, a yoga studio, locker rooms, bathrooms and even an indoor / outdoor garage bay in the gym space.

Prairie’s Edge is a master-planned development featuring residential, commercial, and public amenities designed to connect seamlessly with the surrounding Port Washington community. The site includes more than 2,000 linear feet of Lake Michigan frontage and is positioned as a southern gateway to the city.

Once complete, Commercial Building B will add new wellness options to the Prairie’s Edge community, supporting the overall vision of a walkable community that blends neighborhood living, local business, and views of one of Wisconsin’s most scenic waterfronts.

A Summer of Building Skills and Connections

Posted by & filed under News.

The following is written by Kenedy Van Zile

In June 2025, I embarked on my summer internship with Greenfire after completing a previous internship at Potawatomi Ventures. I was excited to concentrate on in-house marketing for a single brand, which allowed me to enhance my marketing skills while expanding my professional network.

During my four months, I participated in numerous campaigns, including social media initiatives and career development projects. My responsibilities included conceptualizing ideas and executing designs in collaboration with my team. I worked on various campaigns, such as National Holidays and intern spotlights, which helped me refine my creative abilities and boost my confidence in my work.

On the business development side, I focused on organizing and enhancing the CRM database, contributing to cleanup efforts to ensure my team could navigate the system with ease. Additionally, I conducted research projects for specific market sectors, compiling an extensive list of over 400 Senior Living facilities in Wisconsin.

One of the highlights of my internship was the opportunity to attend outings and conferences with my team. They welcomed me to participate and facilitated introductions, allowing me to connect with new people and broaden my network. This experience ultimately led to securing my first full-time position. The events helped me develop new networking skills and encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone.

Throughout my internship with Greenfire, I have strengthened skills and tools that will benefit me in my future endeavors. I am grateful to Greenfire for their support and for helping me become a better version of myself while laying a strong foundation.

Cloud Village, the Ho-Chunk Nation’s newest affordable housing development in Baraboo, Wisconsin, recently marked its official ribbon cutting with tribal leaders, project partners, and community members in attendance. The 65,000 SF development delivers 40 apartment units in a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom layouts with both underground and surface parking, recreational spaces, and community amenities.

The ceremony featured remarks from developer and Ho-Chunk member Collin Price of Heeną Development, who led the project’s vision from concept through completion. Tribal representatives spoke about the project’s impact on the community and expressed appreciation to Greenfire for its leadership and collaboration. Attendees toured the building and outdoor spaces including the new athletic courts and playgrounds designed to foster community activity and connection.

Greenfire was engaged from the earliest stages of planning, helping coordinate with multiple stakeholders to set the project on solid footing before construction began. The team provided early budgeting, logistics planning, and constructability input to align the design with the Ho-Chunk Nation’s goals for sustainability, affordability while balancing community-focused features. During construction, Greenfire managed daily field operations, scheduling, and safety oversight—delivering the project ahead of schedule and under budget.

Designed by Dimension IV Madison Design Group and built to Enterprise Green Community standards, Cloud Village incorporates sustainable features including high-efficiency appliances, electric vehicle charging stations, and advanced stormwater management. Its combination of affordability, durability, and energy performance demonstrates how housing density can be achieved responsibly in rural communities.

Cloud Village is a model for future tribal and rural housing initiatives. By pairing collaboration with strong project management, Cloud Village shows that high-quality, sustainable housing can be delivered efficiently and with long-term community benefit.

Empowering Indigenous Economies

Greenfire Indigenous Biz Con

Posted by & filed under News, Tribal.

Indigenous Biz Con 2025 brought together Tribal leaders, business owners, and entrepreneurs from across the country to share ideas, resources, and strategies that drive Native economic growth. Hosted by Indigenous Business Group at Potawatomi Casino Hotel in Milwaukee, the annual conference continues to serve as a platform for learning, collaboration, and building partnerships that advance Tribal enterprise.

This year’s theme, “Rising Tides: Building Economies, Empowering Generations,” reflected the growing momentum of Indigenous nations taking the lead in shaping regional economies. Greenfire was proud to once again sponsor and participate alongside Potawatomi Ventures, highlighting both organizations shared mission of strengthening Tribal economic opportunity. As a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Forest County Potawatomi Community (FCPC), Greenfire’s involvement reinforces the company’s purpose to build both physical and economic foundations that benefit Tribal and partner communities alike.

The first night of the conference featured a “Light The Hoan” Bridge lighting ceremony in downtown Milwaukee, honoring Indigenous Peoples’ Day. Stirring words during the lighting ceremony were offered from Rob Pero, Indigenous Business Group co-founder, Brooks Boyd, Chairman, FCPC, and David Crowley, Milwaukee County Executive, who was also on hand to present an official proclamation for the day.

The two-day conference included powerful keynote speakers, cultural performances, and tribal artists and vendors. Biz Con brings together Tribal leaders, business representatives, and community members to celebrate the strength and resilience of Indigenous nations through shared economic empowerment.

A key session during the conference featured the panel discussion “Infrastructure Nation: Enterprises Helping Build Sustainable Communities,” moderated by Michael Moe, Business Development Manager at Greenfire and member of the Forest County Potawatomi Community. Panelists Bill Cornelius (Baker Tilly), Matt Kunstman (OESC Group), and Tasha Chevalier (Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin) discussed how Tribal enterprises are leading efforts to create regional infrastructure hubs that integrate construction, energy, logistics, and agriculture. The discussion centered on aligning infrastructure development with sovereignty, sustainability, and long-term economic growth through strategic public-private-Tribal partnerships.

For Greenfire, Indigenous Biz Con remains an important space to connect, share knowledge, and collaborate with other Native-owned enterprises dedicated to building a stronger economic future for generations to come.

Greenfire Takes Time to Reflect

Greenfire Reflection

Posted by & filed under News, Tribal.

Members of Team Greenfire recently took part in meaningful moments of reflection and learning that reinforced the company’s purpose and connection to the Forest County Potawatomi Community (FCPC). Team members wore orange and special bracelets in recognition of the National Day of Remembrance for U.S. Indian Boarding Schools, as well as a special day-long tour of key sites within the Forest County Potawatomi Community. Together, these experiences encouraged awareness of history, culture, and the responsibility that guides Greenfire’s work.

Across offices and job sites, employees joined in honoring the children who attended Indian boarding schools, as well as survivors, families, and communities affected by those institutions. The initiative was led by Marketing and Business Development intern Kenedy Van Zile, who encouraged participation and shared education about the day’s meaning. Wearing orange served as a visible act of remembrance, recognizing the generational trauma caused by forced assimilation and the resilience of Indigenous communities.

A special tour was organized for members of the Greenfire team, giving newer staff the chance to learn more about the Forest County Potawatomi Community and more tenured staff to revisit Greenfire projects from years past and see their lasting impact. The day began at Greenfire’s office on the Wgema Campus in Milwaukee before traveling north to Forest County. The first stop was in Carter at the Forest County Potawatomi Pow Wow Grounds, followed by lunch at Rock & Brews inside the Potawatomi Carter Casino Hotel. The group then continued to Crandon to tour the Cultural Center and Museum, the Executive Building, and the Community Center. Each stop on the tour was guided by a FCPC Tribal member or on-site employee, to provide a clearer understanding of the Tribe’s history, operations, and investments in its people. The tour offered a meaningful look at how Greenfire’s work continues to support the Tribe’s growth and community well-being.

Both the National Day of Remembrance initiative and the FCPC tour provided opportunities for reflection on why Greenfire exists. As a company wholly owned by the Forest County Potawatomi Community, Greenfire’s mission extends beyond construction—it is about honoring the past and building opportunity for future generations.

Atlantic Residential celebrated the ribbon cutting for Rowe MKE, a new luxury apartment community along the Milwaukee River on the city’s East Side. With construction managed by Greenfire, the project marks the second phase of the River House development and continues the transformation of Milwaukee’s riverfront into a vibrant residential destination.

The ribbon cutting was attended by project partners, stakeholders, and residents. Leadership from Atlantic Residential and the Rowe MKE management team shared remarks recognizing the collective effort that brought the project to completion. They thanked Greenfire for its leadership, guidance, and collaboration throughout construction, noting the teamwork and communication that helped deliver the project safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards for their residents. The festivities included live music, delicious eats and refreshments poolside in the courtyard.

Following the success of River House Phase I, Greenfire managed the construction of two additional four-story towers totaling 333,400 SF. The podium-style structures include two levels of underground parking. The project team maintained progress through tight site conditions and urban constraints, including complex excavation and infill work along Water Street in Milwaukee.

Rowe MKE introduces 205 studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments designed by HKM Architects + Planners, Inc. The development features amenities including a saltwater pool, terrace, fitness center, co-working spaces, pet spa, and entertainment courtyard. The development includes a putting green and dog washing station, expanding the variety of amenities for residents.

In addition to the new towers, Greenfire completed a 500’ continuation of the public riverwalk that links the property to downtown Milwaukee’s retail and entertainment corridor. The riverwalk enhances access to the city’s waterfront and further connects the community to nearby neighborhoods. The completion of Rowe MKE extends Greenfire’s partnership with Atlantic Residential and reinforces the firm’s expertise in multi-family construction and complex urban projects.
