Simmi Urbanek, director of marketing at Greenfire Mangement Services was named by theĀ BizTimes as a Notable Nonprofit Board Leader based on her involvement in various nonprofit organizations around the Milwaukee area. She was the Walker’s Point Association president for several years and represented the south-side neighborhood at various city events, meetings and monthly community gatherings. She founds ways to bridge together the residents and businesses of the neighborhood including major corporations like Komatsu and Rite-Hite. She was also part of organizing an annual street festival and bi-annual neighborhood clean-ups.
Urbanek was also the chair of the Professional Dimensions Imprint Awards from 2022-2023. Prior to that, she served as vice chair of the annual fundraising event for one of Milwaukee’s leading women’s organizations. The event drew over 400 people and raised money for a local nonprofit organization that helps girls and women advance in society.
In addition to her involvement in Walker’s Point Association and Professional Dimensions, Urbanek volunteers for her children’s school PTO, Cub Scout Pack 235 and Islands of Brilliance – a nonprofit focused on engaging neurodiverse students with creative mentors. In the fall of 2023, Urbanek joined the Island of Brilliance board of directors and is raising awareness for the organization and its expanding offerings. All of these causes are personal passions and she continues to shine light on those that need it. Her leadership and engagement are an asset to the the community.
