Pan Asia Supermarket - West Allis, WI

Pan Asia Supermarket’s first Wisconsin location brings a full-service Asian grocery to the corner of 70th Street and Greenfield Avenue in West Allis. The project involved renovating 36,000 SF within an existing 85,000 SF retail building at West Allis Towne Center, adapting a former retailer into a grocery and prepared food destination serving the greater Milwaukee area.

Greenfire provided construction management services from preconstruction through completion, coordinating closely with ownership, design partners, and City officials. As the building’s first grocery tenant, the project required early and ongoing alignment around permitting, inspections, and code requirements. Greenfire leveraged established subcontractor relationships to manage sequencing and long-lead items, including refrigeration and mechanical systems, while maintaining schedule certainty. The project was designed by Madisen Maher Architects, with engineering support from Barber Engineering and IBC Engineering.

The project scope included selective interior demolition and trenching for new plumbing and drainage lines, along with comprehensive mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection upgrades. Greenfire coordinated structural repairs and exterior fascia improvements, and oversaw installation of refrigeration systems, walk-in coolers and freezers, kitchen equipment, new restrooms, updated flooring and finishes, offices, and back-of-house storage. Exterior work included construction of a new main entryway, cart corral, landscaping, and signage.

Inside, the store is organized to support both grocery and dining functions. The layout accommodates fresh produce, meat and seafood, and more than 10,000 grocery items sourced from across Asia. Prepared food offerings include fresh sushi, a boba tea café, a bakery, and hot food counters serving a range of regional cuisines. Back-of-house areas are designed to support high-volume refrigeration, food prep, and storage needs.

The completed project introduces a new grocery option to West Allis, activating an existing retail center and expanding access to international foods and dining. The opening drew strong community interest and establishes Pan Asia Supermarket as a regional destination, supporting continued commercial activity along the Greenfield Avenue corridor.
