JFS Woodale Crossing - Brown Deer, WI

Jewish Family Services (JFS) developed the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Residences at Woodale Crossing to expand affordable and supportive housing options in Brown Deer. The project was led by JFS Housing, Inc. with support from the Wisconsin Housing & Economic Development Authority (WHEDA), Bader Philanthropies, and other funding partners. The development advances JFS’s mission to strengthen individual and family well-being through supportive housing and services.

Greenfire managed construction of the facility in collaboration with JLA Architects, The Sigma Group, and REYN Engineering. With extensive experience in affordable and supportive housing, Greenfire guided the project through planning, logistics, and construction sequencing to ensure safe, efficient delivery. The team worked closely with JFS and project partners to maintain schedule, budget, and quality while minimizing impact to the surrounding neighborhood and adjacent Deerwood Crossing Senior Residences.

The 58,500 SF, three-story building provides 56 affordable apartment units designed to serve seniors and individuals with disabilities. The mix of studio, one-, and two-bedroom layouts accommodates varying needs and lifestyles. The structure features underground parking, surface parking, retaining walls, a biofiltration basin, and a landscaped entry drive.

Interior spaces include communal gathering areas, offices for on-site support staff, and outdoor patios for residents. Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems were coordinated for long-term performance and maintenance efficiency. The design emphasizes accessibility, safety, and independence while maintaining close connection to JFS programs and services.

Woodale Crossing is a new housing resource for the Brown Deer community, adding to JFS’s portfolio of supportive housing. The project is a shared commitment among partners to deliver safe, inclusive, and sustainable housing that enhances quality of life for residents and strengthens the broader community.
