The Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council (GLITC) Adolescent Recovery & Wellness Center in Bowler, Wisconsin, brings together healthcare, residential programming and the needs of Tribal communities in one facility. Greenfire is managing construction of the 36-bed center, which will provide substance use disorder and mental health treatment for Native American youth ages 13 to 17.
The one-story facility is organized around residential treatment and wellness. Resident pods include bedrooms and showers, supported by a kitchen and dining area, family and living spaces, classrooms, courtyards and daylit common areas.
The project responds to needs identified by GLITC and its 12 member tribes across Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Those members include the Forest County Potawatomi Community, Greenfire’s owner, connecting the project to Greenfire’s experience working with Tribal Nations and organizations. Oneida ESC Group is acting as the owner’s representative.
GLITC hosted Tribal health directors and leaders for a jobsite tour to see construction progress, learn more about the facility and discuss the resource being developed for the communities they serve.
The project builds on Greenfire’s experience across healthcare, behavioral health, residential and Tribal construction. For owners managing projects with specialized requirements and multiple stakeholders, early construction involvement helps identify constraints, evaluate options and coordinate decisions. When complete, the center will provide GLITC’s member tribes with a dedicated setting for culturally relevant treatment and support for Native youth.
