Project Spotlight: Axis Apartments

November 1, 2026

Axis Apartments in West Allis, Wisconsin, shows how phased construction keeps a development moving across the site. Greenfire is managing the construction of the 147-unit multi-family community for F Street. The project includes a 42-unit garden-style phase and a 105-unit mid-rise phase.

The garden-style townhomes received its certificate of occupancy from the City of West Allis, less than ten months after groundbreaking. Residents are moving in, and the building is nearly fully leased. Early delivery gives F Street a completed, occupied part of the community while construction proceeds on the remaining buildings.

On the same site, mid-rise topped off while the townhome units were turned over. Greenfire is preparing the remaining portions of the project for winter by protecting exposed work, coordinating temporary enclosures, and planning site access and material staging around weather conditions while crews continue work on the mid-rise.

Continuity matters. The same Greenfire construction team is managing both phases with the same trade partners. That lets the team carry forward site logistics, coordinate work between buildings, and plan upcoming scopes with a shared understanding of the schedule. F Street can progress leasing and resident move-ins while the next phase remains active.

The approach builds on Greenfire’s relationship with F Street and its experience delivering multi-family projects in southeastern Wisconsin. At Axis, the partners are coordinating a master plan in phases, with consistent teams and trade partners carrying knowledge from one stage to the next. That experience can help inform future developments.

For owners and development partners, phased construction works when each milestone supports the next. At Axis Apartments, early occupancy, ongoing leasing, and mid-rise construction are moving forward together. Greenfire manages those priorities as one coordinated project.
