Construction continues at The Axis Apartments in West Allis, WI, where Greenfire is managing work across multiple building types simultaneously for developer F Street. The development brings 147 new residential units to the former St. Aloysius Church site. The project includes 42 garden-style townhome units and a 105-unit midrise building along Greenfield Avenue.
Greenfire joined the project early during preconstruction, working alongside F Street and project architect RINKA+ to align design, cost, schedule, procurement, and phased construction planning. The project continues a strong working relationship between Greenfire, F Street, and RINKA+, following completion of Village 43 in Brown Deer, WI.
Current activity includes construction of the elevator tower for the four-story, 133,875 SF midrise building, with framing work scheduled to follow. At the townhome buildings, vertical construction is nearing completion. Final roofing is beginning in the coming weeks before crews transition into interior construction on the two buildings, which total 51,712 SF. Work on the townhomes and the midrise building continues concurrently, requiring detailed coordination across trades, deliveries, sequencing, and site logistics.
The project site presents challenges common with infill development, including limited staging areas, coordination along an active corridor, and maintaining efficient movement of labor and materials while multiple structures are under construction. Greenfire continues managing procurement, long-lead materials, utility coordination, and phased scheduling to maintain progress across the site.
Once complete, The Axis Apartments will include underground parking, community amenities, outdoor and rooftop gathering spaces, fitness areas, and a mix of residential unit options designed to support continued housing growth in West Allis.
