Position Overview
Greenfire Management Services, LLC, is currently recruiting for a Controller. The Controller is an integral part of the team and is responsible for the general accounting, financial reporting, and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. The Controller reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.
Located in Milwaukee, WI, Greenfire Management Services, LLC, is one of Southeastern Wisconsin’s fastest growing firms. Founded in 2010, Greenfire is a wholly-owned company of the Potawatomi Business Development Corporation, the investment arm of the Forest County Potawatomi Community, and as such, maintains minority contractor status.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage monthly financial close to include general journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and monthly financial reporting packet.
- Review and approve monthly bank statements and monitor compliance with bank covenants.
- Reconcile bank register and monitor daily cash balance.
- Prepare financial reports as required for external parties including banks and surety company.
- Manage year-end financial review with external accounting firm.
- Review Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable for adherence to policies and current with Company requirements.
- Manage credit card expenses, review credit card transactions to the general ledger, and monitor for compliance to Company requirements.
- Manage organization tax compliance to include sales & use tax, personal property tax, payroll tax, corporate tax, etc.
- Review company fixed assets including managing conducting bi-annual fixed asset audits and maintain company controls and safe guard company assets.
- Prepare and maintain Work in Progress report (WIP), assist with review and collection of Aged Accounts Receivable, and produce comparative monthly financial statements.
- Develop and document accounting processes and procedures. Monitor adherence to same upon completion of documentation. Update as necessary to insure documentation is complete and current.
- Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by the CFO.
- Assists CFO as directed in preparation of forecasts and budget information.
- Completes accurately and on-time all month-end and year-end reports.
- Directs all work activities of subordinates to maximize the effective use of time and talent.
- Supervises a wide range of duties involving a general knowledge of accounting and Company operations relative to: Company accounting software; filing; accounts receivable; invoicing; office systems and procedures.
- Keeps current on all developing trends and developments in the industry and reports on them to the President.
- Physical requirements include sitting, standing, and walking. The sitting includes PC efforts, meetings, reviewing drawings and calculator functions. The standing required is both inside a building and on field inspections. The walking includes inside the office and in job sites. This position requires manual dexterity of the hands and the normal bending and twisting associated with desk operations.
- Upholds confidentiality of all employee and financial information including payroll information. Ensures complete confidentiality. Will hear business conversations of management in the office. Understands the reason for confidentiality requirement.
- Requires the ability to guide, direct and coordinate the work of multiple activities at the same time. Excellent organizational skills, ability to plan projects and jobs, prioritize work and meet deadlines. Must be a dynamic individual who is client-oriented while keeping the company’s interests in mind.
- Must be able to pass drug tests and comply with Company drug policies.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business administration, accounting, economics, or related field.
- Prefer ten years in a $50M+ and growing company or division of a larger company of progressively responsible financial experience.
- Professional Certification, such as CPA (certified public accountant) preferred
- Must be a dynamic individual who demonstrates high standards regarding the quality and thoroughness of business and technical analysis.
- Skilled in examining, developing, re-engineering, and recommending financial and technology policies and procedures.
- Experience in cost accounting for a construction firm is strongly preferred.
- Must be able to pass background check and pre-employment drug tests and comply with company drug policies.
- Must hold a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the state of Wisconsin.
- If operating a personal vehicle, must maintain insurance as required by Greenfire Policy.
Working Conditions:
- The majority of work is conducted in a climate controlled environment.
- Occasionally meetings of clients, prospective clients, vendors, etc. may occur off site which will require driving in any and all types of weather.
- Work hours range from eight to ten hours per day, five days per week.
- Occasionally, early AM of after hour commitments may be necessary. Management will make every attempt to issue notification as far in advance as possible.
- Must be able to pass drug tests and comply with Company drug policies.
